Why don't we EXIST?

By MOKSHA SAXENA

So today I watched Interstellar for the fourth time, but this time with my parents being much mature and wiser from the last time I watched it. This movie has once again shaken my entire grasp on the subject of existence and the farsighted future of mankind. It really gets me thinking that are we either supposed to work on how to save our planet or get to work on finding us a new home. Is it Plan A or Plan B? And How?

My mind today ignites with the question of mankind’s existence and that when is that time going to come when we start to think as a species, and not as individuals. Well, that’s obvious, only when the circumstances are challenging and desperate enough!

The Mystery of Human Existence lies not only in staying alive, but in finding something to live for

                                                                 – Fyodor Dostoevsky

Every day when the whole world wakes up, some of them work on survival, some on sustainability, but only a few work on existence. It’s imperative that with time, the number of people working on existence is still a lot less than that working on survival and sustainable solutions.

I guess the problem lies buried deep within us. The problem that even after knowing it, we are still a lot less reluctant to. The problem which I speak of is the act of letting go. We hope to find answers to the most difficult and mind-bending questions about our universe but still feel the urge to go back to our home. How can we find a new home out there in the darkness if we can’t let go of the already explored light?

The only way to exist in nature is to balance the number of minds working on both sustainability and existence. One half makes the environment much more favorable and long-lasting for the other, while the second half finds the answer to the much more perplexing questions out there.

No matter how many times we fight change in the form of natural calamities, change is inevitable. The only thing to look forward to is the solutions of the questions on our existence. Remember, Appetite for mind is infinite!

So we can either wait for catastrophic changes to happen or get to work on how to explore & sustain concurrently. We have to maintain the continuity of our species along with the modification of both our body & mind.

Let’s just not live to Survive, lets live to Exist!
